Welcome to Ribbleton Avenue Infant School

Governor Vacancies

November 2015

Dear All,

We have a place for a Co-opted governor on our school Governing Body.  We are particularly seeking people who have experience in Heath and Safety or Personnel.  Most meetings happen during the school day.  If you, or someone you know, would be interested in further discussion about the role of a school governor please speak to Mrs Johnson (Headteacher) or Mr Manogue (Chair of Governors).

We are delighted to share the outcome of our latest OFSTED inspection with you.  The report highlights the many exemplorary aspects of school life and celebrates the high standard and professionalism of all staff and governors.  We are very proud of our report and we will work hard to continue to improve attendance, aiming at the 96% or better target set nationally for school pupils to achieve.

A Welcome from the Head Teacher

It is a privilege to write to you to introduce myself as the Headteacher of Ribbleton Avenue Infant School. I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you to our school’s website and tell you a little bit about who we are and what we do.

Ribbleton Avenue Infant School is a diverse community which provides a caring, broad and balanced curriculum for children from Nursery to Year 2.  Our talented and committed staff team all aim to make our school a happy, enjoyable place in which children flourish. They also put in lots of extra effort to facilitate special theme weeks throughout the year, not to mention the plays and assemblies which provide lots of motivation for the children and entertainment for their parents. The Governors work hard to ensure that the best use is made of our resources and they make a valuable contribution to the success of the school.

We are a positive and welcoming school which believes strongly that parents, carers and families are a very important part of a child’s learning and we work closely with them. Visitors are always welcome into our school and many comment on the feeling of warmth and care.

We hope that you enjoy your visit to our website, and that you find any information you are looking for. Please feel free to contact the school directly with any queries you may have.

Best Wishes

Sarah Johnson

Year 1 and Year 2:  Along with the local schools in the area we run a policy of no pupil movement during term time unless pupils have moved into the area and can no longer feasibly attend their previous school.  Please contact the school directly to enquire if a place is available.

We look forward to meeting you!

KS1 Maths Show

On Tuesday 10th November, some professional actors came to visit our school to perform a show called 'The Miscalculation of Captain Halfinch'. The show was an exciting pirate themed show with a mathematical focus based on the new curriculum. The children had to solve lots of problems involving place value, ordering number, addition, subtraction, fractions and times table in order for the pirate to find the treasure! Here are some photos:

Through the Sports Premium all the children have been receiving weekly Gymnastics Coaching in addition to their PE lessons.  The photographs and report from this fantastic afternoon can be found in the Gymnastic section.

A fantastic afternoon at Preston Gymnastics Centre on Friday 13th November 2015.  A team of Year 1 and 2 children competed for our school in the open Gymnastics competition for children 11yrs old and under. They all produced their very best work on both the vault and floor and all the adults attending were VERY proud of them all!

Please have a look at the photographs on the gymnastics tab - some are action shots (so a little blurred!) and some have been zoomed in for (so a little grainy) but ALL are a memory of the marvelous effort and talents we have at Ribbleton Avenue Infant School!

I am so proud of ally our efforts.

Well done!

Mrs Johnson 😊
