Parent Governor Vacancies

Dear Parents

If you are interested in becoming a Parent Governor please ensure you have expressed this in writing before Friday 2nd October 2015.

Following this date the appointment of Parent Governors will be undertaken. This may include an election process, depending on the number of parents who have applied for this position.

If you wish to have further information about the work of the Governing Body please speak to one of the existing parent Governors Mrs Nomani, Mrs Supra, Mr Wadie or myself (Mrs Johnson).

Yours Sincerely

Mrs Johnson

We are delighted to share the outcome of our latest OFSTED inspection with you.  The report highlights the many exemplorary aspects of school life and celebrates the high standard and professionalism of all staff and governors.  We are very proud of our report and we will work hard to continue to improve attendance, aiming at the 96% or better target set nationally for school pupils to achieve.

A Welcome from the Head Teacher

It is a privilege to write to you to introduce myself as the Headteacher of Ribbleton Avenue Infant School. I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you to our school’s website and tell you a little bit about who we are and what we do.

Ribbleton Avenue Infant School is a diverse community which provides a caring, broad and balanced curriculum for children from Nursery to Year 2.  Our talented and committed staff team all aim to make our school a happy, enjoyable place in which children flourish. They also put in lots of extra effort to facilitate special theme weeks throughout the year, not to mention the plays and assemblies which provide lots of motivation for the children and entertainment for their parents. The Governors work hard to ensure that the best use is made of our resources and they make a valuable contribution to the success of the school.

We are a positive and welcoming school which believes strongly that parents, carers and families are a very important part of a child’s learning and we work closely with them. Visitors are always welcome into our school and many comment on the feeling of warmth and care.

We hope that you enjoy your visit to our website, and that you find any information you are looking for. Please feel free to contact the school directly with any queries you may have.

Best Wishes

Sarah Johnson

Reception:  Places are allocated through the Local Authority.  Please apply on line at www.lancashire.gov.uk/e-admission.  After the start of September the school will inform you if places are available.  Please contact us directly.

Year 1 and Year 2:  Along with the local schools in the area we run a policy of no pupil movement during term time unless pupils have moved into the area and can no longer feasibly attend their previous school.  Please contact the school directly to enquire if a place is available.

We look forward to meeting you!

Borwick Trips

This year, in May and June 2015,  we have been extremely fortunate to visit Borwick Hall for one of our trips.  All our children in Key Stage 1 visited and took part in Canoeing, Orienteering and team building activities.  All 4 visits were hugely successful and everyone had an amazing time.

Here are some pictures from our Children in Nightingales.

Gymnastics Award Assembly

All of the children in School have taken part in gymnastic lessons over the academic year with some even competing in competitions.  As a celebration of all the hard work our children have shown to this sport over this year, we had a big award ceremony in the hall.

All the children in school have received an award of some sort ranging from the 'Healthy Award', to the 'Level 8 Gymnastics Award'. This is a huge achievement for all our children and we look forward to seeing out children continue to progress in their gymnastics in the new academic year.  Well Done Everyone!

Twix and Toby

Twix and Toby are our school rabbits.  Each week one class looks after them by feeding them, changing their water, cleaning their hutch and making sure they have fresh fruit.

Twix and Toby are adopted.  They could not be cared for by their original owners and the school council and governors decided that we could provide them a home.  They are also twin brothers.  They are identical twins but Twix is a little braver than Toby and he has slightly lighter brown ears.

A big thankyou to Miss Smith for all her hard work in helping prepare for us to look after the rabbits and in ensuring that both Toby and Twix are well cared for in school.

Through the Sports Premium all the children have been receiving weekly Gymnastics Coaching in addition to their PE lessons.  The photographs and report from this fantastic afternoon can be found in the Gymnastic section.

A fantastic afternoon at Preston Gymnastics Centre on Friday 8th March 2015.  A team of Year 1 and 2 children competed for our school and we are VERY proud of them all.  This was a Year 3 and 4 competition so we were not eligible for individual places.  Our team was placed 3rd in the entire competition - an amazing achievement!  Please have a look at the photographs - some are action shots (so a little blurred!) and some have been zoomed in for (so a little grainy) but ALL are a memory of the marvelous effort and talents we have at Ribbleton Avenue Infant School!

I am so proud of you all!  Well done!  Mrs Johnson
