Welcome to Ribbleton Avenue Infant School

Sports Day

2nd July 2014

all welcome

We are delighted to share the outcome of our latest OFSTED inspection with you.  The report highlights the many exemplorary aspects of school life and celebrates the high standard and professionalism of all staff and governors.  We are very proud of our report and we will work hard to continue to improve attendance, aiming at the 96% or better target set nationally for school pupils to achieve.

A Welcome from the Head Teacher

It is a privilege to write to you to introduce myself as the Headteacher of Ribbleton Avenue Infant School. I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you to our school’s website and tell you a little bit about who we are and what we do.

Ribbleton Avenue Infant School is a diverse community which provides a caring, broad and balanced curriculum for children from Nursery to Year 2.  Our talented and committed staff team all aim to make our school a happy, enjoyable place in which children flourish. They also put in lots of extra effort to facilitate special theme weeks throughout the year, not to mention the plays and assemblies which provide lots of motivation for the children and entertainment for their parents. The Governors work hard to ensure that the best use is made of our resources and they make a valuable contribution to the success of the school.

We are a positive and welcoming school which believes strongly that parents, carers and families are a very important part of a child’s learning and we work closely with them. Visitors are always welcome into our school and many comment on the feeling of warmth and care.

We hope that you enjoy your visit to our website, and that you find any information you are looking for. Please feel free to contact the school directly with any queries you may have.

Best Wishes

Sarah Johnson

Each year group has an admission number of 70 pupils. Please contact us to arrange a visit if you are interested in your child joining our school.

Nursery:   If you would like a Nursery place the application form is available from the school office.  Places are allocated during the Summer Term and parents will be contacted by letter.

Reception:  Places are allocated through the Local Authority.  Please apply on line at www.lancashire.gov.uk/e-admission.  After the start of September the school will inform you if places are available.  Please contact us directly.

Year 1 and Year 2:  Along with the local schools in the area we run a policy of no pupil movement during term time unless pupils have moved into the area and can no longer feasibly attend their previous school.  Please contact the school directly to enquire if a place is available.

We look forward to meeting you!

Through the Sports Premium all the children have been receiving weekly Gymnastics Coaching in addition to their PE lessons.  Some of our children are training for a competition at Preston Gymnastic Centre.  Here are some photographs of the training!

Oh Yes! 2013

Oh Yes - Visit to Blackpool Tower

This year there were so many children who managed to remain on green throughout the year and we went to visit Blackpool Tower.  It was a good job we were inside because it rained all dday!  The children went to the top of the tower, visited the wonderful ballroom and went wild in Jungle Jim's.  To finish a perfect day they attended the matine at the Circus.

I would like to say a big thankyou to all the children who participated.  You are a pleasure to be with and a true asset to our school.  I look forward to taking you on the next Oh Yes adventure next year!

If you didn't make it - remember to try your best with your behaviour and you too could have the experience of a lifetime....look at our photographs and the big smiles to prove it!

Remember it is great to be green!

The Rededication of the Preston War Memorial

Miss Nickson, Miss Smith, Chloe and Zak were delighted to be invited to watch the Rededication of the Preston War Memorial at the Market Square in Preston. It was an honour to see the men and women who help to protect our country honoured in such a way and we were very excited to see so many veteran service men who had so many medals to show us!  Our favourite bits were watching the big brass band welcome in the Lancaster Regiment into the square before the Sergent made the soldiers do a 'drill' with their special swords. Then we were treated at the end of the afternoon to a celebratory buffet where we all ate sandwiches and cake with all the other boys and girls from different schools; a super afternoon!
